Aguilares is well-known as the “National Capital of the Sugar Cane”. Every August, The National Sugar Cane Fest is held and here a Queen is elected to represent the province. Besides, Aguilares is also well-known as the Carnival Capital City. At the end of January, there is a big event in which there are parades with 800 m long. Dancers wear bright colourful outfits that are prepared during the whole year.
This town is located at 85 km (52 ½ miles) to the south of the Capital City which are connected through National Route Nº 38.
