San Pablo & Villa Nougués
San Pablo & Villa Nougués

San Pablo and Villa Nougués is a municipality located within the Yungas Tucumanas Experience.
Among the main attractions of San Pablo are the former San Pablo Sugar Mill, founded in 1832 by Jean Nougués on land that once belonged to the Jesuits and where the San Pablo T University now operates, and the San Pablo Nature Reserve, which covers more than 3,000 hectares and protects the area's biological and scenic heritage. Visitors can enjoy outdoor activities such as birdwatching and hiking. The reserve has two main trails: the Guaicondo Trail and the Hydrangea Trail.
In Villa Nougués, a residential village, one can admire the Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, built in the Neo-Gothic style, which lends the landscape a Central European feel. Another attraction is the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Those interested in the outdoors and adventure can hike the trail that leads to a hidden gem: the Huaicondo Waterfalls, whose name comes from Quechua and means "deep well." The trail belongs to the San Pablo T University Reserve, is open until 2:00 PM, and requires an entrance fee.
The trail is 5 kilometers (3 miles) one way, approximately an hour's hike, and is of moderate difficulty. Along the way, you can admire the heart of the fascinating Tucumán Yungas forest.
The trail has sections with steep ascents and descents, so the presence of a guide or certified service provider is always recommended.
