Pink, I love you pink!: Lapacho trees are the perfect postcard every september in Tucumán.

With the beginning of September and when the temperature begins to rise little by little, one of the greatest gifts that the arrival of spring brings to Tucumán also begins to bloom: the pink lapacho trees. Suddenly, the streets of the province are invaded by enormous bell-shaped flowers that are a spectacle to behold and also to capture with our cell phone or camera as a souvenir.

Did you know that the pink lapacho tree was declared the official tree of Tucumán? Yes, it is. In addition, every September 6th, when at the end of winter they begin to open their petals and dye the streets with color, we celebrate their provincial day. Through the law, the promotion and protection of its native species is sought so that future generations can also enjoy them.

The “Garden of the Republic”, as Tucumán is known, justly honors its nickname with this floral birth that also coincides with the emergence of the orange blossoms that fill every place with their fresh and characteristic perfume: a true explosion for our senses.

Although in Tucumán it is more common to see the native pink lapacho trees, this very showy flower also comes in other colors and shades such as yellow, which has numerous examples in the province, violet and even white, which you can sometimes be lucky enough to find if you take a walk through the streets of Tucumán.
