Faith Route in Valle de Choromoro
Faith Route in Valle de Choromoro
Religion plays a vital role when visiting cities and countries worldwide, with faith serving as the main motivation. Tucumán is no different, and in each of its tourist routes, you can find sites and temples of significant religious, historical, and cultural importance.
In the Choromoro Valley, some of the most notable religious sites attracting the largest number of faithful include the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a replica of the grotto in France, and the Well of San Francisco Solano in Trancas, whose spring has waters with healing and miraculous properties. The Church of the Sacred Heart, on the other hand, is of historical importance for witnessing the execution of the first governor of Tucumán, General Bernabé Aráoz.
The Grotto of Lourdes is situated on a hill, offering a stunning panoramic view of San Pedro de Colalao. Completed in 1982, it was commissioned by Lourdist Father Marcelo Artiguibille upon his arrival in the town and is a replica of the Grotto of France. The site also features an interpretive park where visitors can learn about the Virgin's apparitions to Bernadette in 1858.
