The Papal Cross, a Monument to a Historic Visit in Tucumán

In the town of Alderetes, located in Cruz Alta, 7 kilometers from San Miguel de Tucumán and at the beginning of the province's eastern circuit, stands a newly renovated space dedicated to reflection and meditation for the Catholic community. This is the Papal Cross, erected on the altar where Pope John Paul II received and preached during his visit to the province in 1987, radiating his blessing to the four cardinal directions. Today, it stands as an emblem of religious tourism and an icon for the community of Alderetes and for the people of Tucumán.
