Close to heaven: the miraculous well of San Francisco Solano that attracts hundreds of faithful in Tucumán.

Every so often, the country's media outlets report on stories that defy explanation, accounts of extraordinary or miraculous events, and those originating in Tucumán are never lacking, more precisely in a town located in the north of the province: Trancas. There lies the Well of Saint Francis Solano, a site that anyone seeking a sacred experience should visit during their time in Tucumán.
The well is recognized as one of the most energetically charged places in the province. And with good reason: it is one of the spots where Saint Francis Solano visited during his time in Tucumán more than four centuries ago, around 1590.
Tradition tells that in the midst of a severe drought that plagued the area, the Franciscan missionary struck the parched ground with his staff, and crystal-clear water and fish sprang forth, enough to feed the entire community. Today, hundreds of devotees come to the well to pray for the health of their loved ones or to give thanks for favors received.
This time, a national news outlet shared the story of Carlos, a man who weeps silently before the saint's image. A year earlier, he had stood in that same spot, praying for the life of his wife, who lay dying after a car accident. Today, he returns from his city to give thanks: she is home and has learned to walk again.
He promised to return every year to clean the site and bring flowers to beautify it. Upon arriving, he never forgets to ring the chapel bell three times, one of the rituals performed by those who visit the sanctuary. According to popular belief, these rings call the saint to listen to the supplications and thanksgivings of his faithful.
