It is the most important and venerable building in Argentina since National Independence was sworn in its halls on July 9, 1816. Located in the central part of the city, it dates from the end of the 18th century and belonged to Francisca Bazán de Laguna. Its heritage, made up of objects from the colonial period, the wars of independence, and the 19th century, has the mission of communicating the Historic process that led to the Declaration of Independence. The main room of the House is the Hall of the Jura (Oath Hall), where the congress minutes and paintings of each of the congressmen of 1816 are exhibited. Recently, the Museum launched a new museographic script with a greater presence of technological and digital resources. Likewise, it has an ideal space for children to learn about history through games and educational resources.

The Museum is also characterized by its extensive flowered yards and archways and doors denoting its colonial style. In the last of them, a mast rises where the Argentine Flag flies and two bas-reliefs made by the artist Lola Mora are exhibited. They represent the key moments in the history of the country: the First National Government in 1810 and the Oath of Independence in 1816. One of the main attractions of the museum is the Changing of the Argentine Army Guard which, by National Law No. 24024, is the custodian of the Historic House of Independence.
