A province full of culture to experience at every step, Tucumán has fairs where it is possible to learn about the authenticity of its people through its gastronomy and crafts.

Simoca Fair

On your visit to Tucumán, you cannot miss the Simoca Fair, one of the province's oldest and most traditional fairs. The city is located just 50 kilometers south of the capital, an hour-drive by car, and can be visited every Saturday of the year.

Upon arrival, you will see the property full of ranches where they will offer you super juicy empanadas (a kind of pastry filled with meat), grills loaded with asado (barbecue) and our most typical dishes such as humitas (corn cakes) and tamales (a kind of a little pumpkin cake filled with meat wrapped with corn husk)  to taste on the spot. You can also try our sweetest delicacies such as bride's cake, rosquetes (sweet round bread) and empanadillas (sweet empanadas) full of quince. Of course, on a walk through the fair, there is no shortage of local cheeses, fruits and vegetables, wines and blood sausages among other high-quality charcuterie products. The star product is, without a doubt, the “chala de Simoca”, a cigarette mixed with black tobacco and star anise wrapped in chala leaf.

In addition, it is the ideal opportunity for you to purchase handicrafts made of wood, ponchos (wool blankets), and other textiles made on looms and saddlery products.

Lagoferiantes (Lake stallholders)

Another of the best-known fairs in Tucumán is located just 20 minutes from the capital, in one of the main tourist destinations: El Cadillal. This is Lagoferiantes, a fair self-managed by a group of women who managed to position it as a must-see within the tourist village. It is located just over 500 meters from the Los Tucu Tucu Amphitheater. It offers stalls selling weaving crafts, plants, prints and decorative elements, all framed in the impressive landscape offered by Celestino Gelsi Lake. It is possible to taste different gastronomic proposals such as empanadas, sandwiches and tamales or have a mate (yerba mate infusion) while doing a family walk in an extremely pleasant atmosphere.

It can be visited on Saturdays, from 5 to 10 p.m., and on Sundays and holidays from 12 to 9 p.m., on Provincial Route No. 347.

San Miguel de Tucumán Municipal Gourmet Fair

This fair managed by the municipal body awaits you in the city's parks to enjoy the best gastronomy and live shows. It rotates in the Avellaneda Park in 1600 Mate de Luna Ave and the Provincial Park on Roca Avenue and 9 de Julio.
