The tourist calendar highlights the Antigal Festival, an ancient celebration linked to the native peoples of the area. In July, Colalao del Valle celebrates the Ponchi Festival. Pochi is a popular drink made with strong spirits, sugar, cinnamon, and beaten egg. Situated 8 kilometers from Colalao del Valle, El Pichao is an ideal destination for experiencing rural tourism. Its inhabitants are self-sufficient by raising their cattle and growing fruits used to make their renowned quince, squash, apple, fig, and pear sweets. This is how one of its most popular festivals was born, the Provincial Festival of Artisanal Sweets, which is celebrated every February.
