Nature, archaeology and relaxation: discover the treasures that El Mollar has for you
An afternoon in front of the La Angostura dam, a visit to the Los Menhires reserve and a bike ride through the vastness of the valley are some of the options that this destination offers.

Just over 100 kilometers from the hustle and bustle of the capital of Tucumán, there is a paradise that awaits visitors to discover at any time of the year. This is El Mollar, which, at more than 2,000 meters above sea level, makes you forget about the heat of the city.
Just by arriving at the small commune on Provincial Route 307, visitors can marvel at the La Angostura dam, an imposing postcard that welcomes them from above and that they should take home as a souvenir. In addition, if the weather is good, it is the opportunity for them to venture out onto the waters of the body of water (the highest in the country!) in a kayak that allows them to appreciate other views of the destination. The site is ideal for practicing other water sports and even for fishing for silverside, perch and trout.
The day in El Mollar continues with one of its must-sees, the Vuelta al Valle, a 45-kilometer circuit that surrounds the dam and can be done either by car or bike. During the journey you pass through different towns such as La Banda, El Churqui, La Ovejería and Las Carreras, among others, and it is possible to delve into the Jesuit history of the place, the artisan workshops that are scattered along the way and some amazing landscapes worthy of photographing.
Now, talking about El Mollar is, without a doubt, talking about the uncountable cultural and ancestral wealth of our Calchaquí Valley. A must-see when touring the town is the open-air Archaeological Museum Los Menhires, a site steeped in history where it is possible to contemplate stone monoliths that are more than 2,500 years old and that have engravings of human figures and extremely diverse animals. The reserve is located in front of the town's main square and admission is free.
Finally, one of the must-see proposals when visiting El Mollar is to visit its Artisan Route, where it is possible to learn each of the ancestral techniques used by its members as well as take home a souvenir of the place to give as a gift or to decorate your home.
