Which historical sites are included in the San Martin National Passport in Tucumán?

Those interested in learning about sites linked to San Martín should visit:

· The Historic House of Independence Museum: the country's most important museum where the Congress of Tucumán was held, the event at which the Declaration of Independence was signed. Although there is no evidence that the hero ever visited its halls, this site represents the culmination of the independence process dreamed of by General José de San Martín. The passport stamping station is located at the museum. Alternatively, you can have your passport stamped at the Tourist Information Office across from Plaza Independencia.

· The San Martín Museum of Tucumán: located 34 kilometers from the capital in Burruyacu, is where General José de San Martín rested in 1814 before starting his campaign to free Argentina, Chile, and Peru. The museum features audiovisual materials, books, San Martín iconography, and a replica of the curved saber used by the Father of the Nation in the battles of Independence. According to history, San Martín stayed at the La Ramada hacienda for nearly a month, until May 24, 1814. The house has since disappeared, and its original appearance and location are unknown. Oral traditions suggest it was where the La Ramada de Abajo house now stands, built between the late 1890s and early 1910s, which has been declared a Provincial Historical Monument. The museum is located at this site.

· The Ruins of San José de Lules: This site, which includes an old chapel and a convent, was established by the Society of Jesus in 1670. It is the place where the Jesuits first cultivated sugarcane and also where José de San Martín and Manuel Belgrano camped during the Wars of Independence. Since 1812, the convent has been on loan to the Peruvian Auxiliary Army. According to Father González, Friar Julián Perdriel told the Prior of Tucumán, "If it were the case that our army were to be housed in that convent, nothing would be more just and honorable than to grant whatever compensation is due to those who risk their lives to defend ours." After the Independence campaign, a small convent was built on the property and renovated in 1880. Friar Ángel María Boisdron oversaw the construction of the current church, the sacristy, and two bell towers. It is now a National Historic Monument. The stamping post is located in the Ruins of San José, but stamping can also be done at the Information Office in Lules.

. The Chacabuco Pyramid: also known as the Pyramid of the Citadel, is located in Plaza Belgrano in the capital, where the Battle of Tucumán took place. It is the oldest monument. It was built as a memorial commissioned by Manuel Belgrano to honor the Father of the Nation and his victories at the Battle of Chacabuco (February 12, 1817) and, most likely, the Battle of Maipú (April 5, 1818). According to Bartolomé Mitre, when it was built, Belgrano told San Martín that the towns and the army "thank you for the benefit they owe to your noble efforts, congratulating you with me, as well as your comrades in arms, who have followed in your footsteps to cover the nation's arms with glory." The passport stamping station is at Casa Belgraniana. Alternatively, you can have your passport stamped at the Tourist Information Office across from Plaza Independencia.

?The Historical Board of Tucumán endorses the information on each historical site.
